Product Description
What Is a Hydraulic Post Driver?
A hydraulic post driver is a powerful attachment designed to drive fence posts, signposts, guardrail posts, or foundation stakes into the ground using hydraulic force. It mounts to machines like skid steers, tractors, excavators, or backhoes, and uses the host machine’s hydraulic system to generate high-impact blows.
Hydraulic post drivers are widely used in agriculture, fencing, road work, and construction—anywhere posts need to be set quickly and securely in hard or rocky ground.
How Does a Hydraulic Post Driver Work?
A hydraulic post driver uses pressurized hydraulic oil from the carrier machine to power a heavy-duty internal hammer or weight. Here's how it works:
- Hydraulic Flow – The host machine (e.g., skid steer) sends hydraulic oil into the driver.
- Internal Hammer Activation – The internal hammer is lifted and dropped rapidly using hydraulic pressure.
- Driving Impact – Each drop delivers a strong vertical impact, pushing the post into the ground with force and precision.
- Repeat Blows – The cycle continues until the post is securely embedded.
Many hydraulic post drivers also include features like quick-attach brackets, side tilt, or adjustable guides for easier alignment and positioning.
