Safe Maintenance Practices for Hydraulic Breakers

Maintaining your hydraulic breaker correctly is essential for safety, performance, and long-term durability. Follow these essential safety practices to ensure every maintenance task is performed safely and professionally.

✅ 1. Authorized Personnel Only

Maintenance and repairs should only be performed by trained technicians. Never begin a service procedure unless you fully understand it. If unsure, please contact your authorized ROCKAGE representative.

🚫 2. No Unauthorized Modifications

Avoid using non-approved parts or making unauthorized modifications. This may result in hazardous conditions or equipment failure. All changes must be approved by ROCKAGE Engineering to ensure machine stability and reliability.

🏷️ 3. Tag Out & Lock Out

Before working on the breaker, attach a "DO NOT OPERATE" tag in the cab and remove the engine key and master switch. This prevents accidental operation and serious injury during servicing.

💨 4. Use Only Nitrogen (N₂) Gas

The cushion chamber (back head) is charged with non-flammable nitrogen gas (N₂). Never use other gases, as they may cause explosions. Use only certified charging tools and procedures.

⚠️ 5. Relieve Gas Pressure Before Disassembly

Even after the hydraulic system is off, gas pressure may remain in the cushion chamber. Always relieve pressure first to avoid accidents. Refer to your ROCKAGE maintenance manual for guidance.

🚧 6. Stand Clear During Gas Charging

Charging gas can cause the piston to move unexpectedly. Stay clear of the tool during this process. Always use proper lifting equipment when handling components.

🏗️ 7. Use Certified Lifting Equipment

Only use certified slings, chains, straps, or ratchet blocks that meet your country’s safety regulations. ROCKAGE is not responsible for damage or injury from substandard lifting tools.

🪝 8. Lift Properly with Designated Points

Use the marked lifting eyes or lifting points on the breaker. Never work under a suspended load. Ensure the ground is flat and strong enough when using a jack or support.
